I finally found the time and motivation to get around to doing one of those seemingly little but actually important tasks that I’d been trying to get to for a very long time: build and launch a “professional” site about myself, career and experience. And so a site – this one – was born!
I’ve used the johngirvin.com domain for a number of years now for various things related to my freelance technology consulting and web development work, but there’s never been an actual website attached to it until now.
On this site you can find information on my career, skills and experience and see some of the public web projects that I’ve worked on to date. There are also more detailed and up to date CV’s (resumes) to download in a selection of formats and some contact details should anyone want to get in touch. It’s built with validated XHTML / CSS semantic markup with a light sprinkling of jQuery user interface candy. It runs as an OO/MVC patterned PHP 5 application based on the CodeIgniter framework, served up by Apache HTTPD with a MySQL chaser, all running on a self-maintained Debian Linux VPS.
Glad to see you here, let me know what you think.

Hey John – it ’s a very nice-looking professional site. Good job, the sort of thing I really should do with mattcawley.com if I ever get around to it!
