upgrading to codeigniter 1.7.1

February 16th, 2009 by John Girvin

EllisLab recently released a new version of the CodeIgniter open source PHP web application framework on which this and many other sites are based. Version 1.7.1 is an important release containing many new features and enhancements, as well as nearly three dozen bug fixes and one critical security update. The release comes with the usual excellent change log and upgrade guide.

After the (somewhat painful) CodeIgniter 1.7.0 upgrade process, the ease of moving sites to this new version was very welcome! As per the upgrade guide, it was a simple matter of replacing the CodeIgniter system files in each site and uploading the new versions to the web server.

If you’re currently using CodeIgniter, upgrade to 1.7.1 today.
